Our First Anniversary

11:30 mass - check, anniversary cake - check, flowers - check, dinner and Adelino's - check. Wow, has a year gone by already? It just seems like yesterday that we were planning our wedding. Here's to many more:

“I don't pretend to know what love is for everyone, but I can tell you what it is for me; love is knowing all about someone, and still wanting to be with them more than any other person, love is trusting them enough to tell them everything about yourself, including the things you might be ashamed of, love is feeling comfortable and safe with someone, but still getting weak knees when they walk into a room and smile at you.”

July 4th Holiday Weekend

For our first 4th of July as a married couple, we decided to go to Chicago. Our plan was to meet up with Jer, visit the Lincoln Zoo, Ikea, and of course LegoLand. Unfortunately mother nature had different plans. As we were walking to the zoo it started to rain, so we decided to eat instead.

Of course, IKEA made the cut.

As an added bonus, we got to hang out with Matt's friend Kurtis; who was one his roommates in Spain.

We drove by Medieval times, rumor has it Matt likes castles.

The last stop of our weekend was Legoland in Schaumburg. We were the only couple without children, so that was kinda weird. But Matt had to played with legos, so maybe I did take a kid to Legoland.

Dad's Suprise 70th Birthday Party

On May 21st, Dad turned 70. Yes, 70 as in he was born in 1939. So how do you surprise a clever old man like my father you ask? Throw him a surprise birthday party a week after his birthday - works every time. He already had his pies and opened some gifts so he had no idea that this wasn't 'Dinner at Arni's'....muah hahaahha.

So I spent a lot of time trying to find a humorous 70th birthday card, only to discover that funny stops at 50. Apparently if you are over 50, your heart can't take that much laughing. I also noticed that the older you are the bigger the font- seriously, check out a 100th birthday card next time; it's huge. It was hard to pick out a sappy card for my father, since my trademark is the witty/funny cards but I think I can handle it once every ten years.

70 candles could be considered a fire hazard, so they had to stay on the bag.

He kept digging in the bag and even pulled out the bottom support... hint, there's nothing in the bag that will trump the I-Pod.

Do you think he likes it? He almost blinded me with that smile :)

Who wants more cake...

So today we had another Graduation party for Matt at his parents' house in Huntington. Most of his family is in town this weekend for Dave and Jeannette's wedding, so it only made sense to have the party the same weekend but back to the party...

Eric, Bill, Mike Jr, and Anna

Mike Sr, Matt, Aunt Cel, Grandma Knittig, Michelle Schmaltz

Jacob really wanted some cake

Jacob was trying to climb over the gate like the rest of us but he's not quite tall enough...yet.

Sweet, a shadowbox with room for the tassel.

Michelle was having too much fun with Matt's foot.

One of a kind artwork :)
